Don't let them kill us!
I was about to write a disturbing and heart-wrenching account, I had thought to myself that I should write an article titled: "Democracy is directly related to independence and freedom." Suddenly a message appeared on the computer screen in front of me: "Don't let them kill us!"
Every thought I had about independence, freedom, and democracy was gone. The message was about three prisoners sentenced to death in the "House of Isfahan" case. Majid Kazemi, Saleh Mirhashemi, and Saeed Yaghoubi. They wrote from inside Isfahan Prison under the signature "Children of Iran": "Hello. We ask our dear fellow citizens and compatriots not to let us be killed. We need your help. We need your support."
What should we Iranians do to escape from our constant misery and unhappiness? Each and every one of us Iranians should be searching for a solution. No one but ourselves can lead us and the people of our homeland to liberation and victory. Millions of Iranians, millions of human rights advocates, all over the world have been hearing these screams, these protests and groans for years. From all over Iran, from inside the dark and hellish prisons of Iran, and these killings continue. From Kurdistan to Lorestan, Khuzestan, Azerbaijan, Khorasan, Tehran and... these killings have continued since the day the Constitution and civil rights were written in Iran.
Freedom is the key to liberation. Freedom must be achieved through effort and sacrifice. When there is no freedom in a country, there is no independence. When there is no independence, there can be no democracy. When there is no democracy, no one can speak of the homeland, the rights of citizenship, and the dignity of the people. Throughout the days of modern dictatorship, even before the assassination of Mirzadeh Eshghi, in the devastating coups, on the 30th of Tihri, on the 15th of Khordad. On the sad days of Bahman 1357 and in the summer of 1367; (summer of 1988 a.f.) Thousands of brave and patriotic Iranians have been killed in cold blood and brutally by the executioners of puppet governments. But still "this sad sky is drowned in stars". There can be no democracy. When there is no democracy, no one can speak of the homeland, citizenship rights, and freedom. Our thinkers, our scientists, and our true leaders are killed or forced to flee. Something must be done for liberation, for freedom, for victory, and for the survival of the "children of Iran." At over eighty years old, I am still trying to make the voice of the "children of Iran" heard by our compatriots and perhaps the world.
