"IRAN NATIONAL FRONT-USA" CONDEMNS THE ARBITRARY ARREST OF Mr. Heshmatollah

TABARZADI

In the past two months, the hardline faction has resorted to many actions to stifle the plans for the anniversary of the July Student Uprising.  The hardliners -- taking advantage of the end of the 5th Majles and the concerns of the Y2K (Yaran-e 2 Khordad) over the opening of the 6th Majles -- have resorted to many tactics, the latest of which is the arrest of Mr. Tabarzadi.

Over 15 student activists have been arrested.  The wave of intimidations, harassments, threats and arrests point to the fact that the ruling hardline clerics have not learned their lessons, and do not care about public opinion and the election results.

While the Y2K camp are busy with their own affairs in 6th Majles proceedings, they seem to have forgotten what the people have voted for!  In the elections, the Iranian people said a huge "NO" to arbitrary arrests, to arbitrary closures of the papers, and to arbitrary actions by the so-called "judicial system."

The so-called "judges" acting as prosecutors, judges and juries, ordering the arrest of pro-democracy activists, pronouncing judgements and sentences, are more the reflections of the desires of an individual and reflecting the political positions of a faction than a system of justice.  This type of a "legal system" does not resemble a just court system; it can not even can be called a Kangaroo court.  It is simply a "one-man" assessment and judgement in the interest of the right-wing group, that controls  positions of power.

The Y2K camp is also silent about these arbitrary repressive acts.  The people did not vote for them to sit idle and chew gum.  The people expect the Y2K to get their acts together and do something.

Mr. Shahroudi, the chief of the judicial system, talks nicely but has acquiesced in these repressive arbitrary persecution of the pro-democracy activists.

Why all these arrests are taking place?  If the ruling clergy wants to have a dictatorial theocratic system, which we believe to exist, why they do not say so?

The dictatorial clerics simply do not have the support of the majority of the Iranian people.  They cannot hide behind the cause of the Revolution.  The people made a revolution to gain Freedom and Democracy.  The dictatorial clerics stole the Revolution from the people.  Therefore, they cannot claim any loyalty from the people.  The dictatorial clerics are hanging to a corrupt, barbaric and inhumane system of ruling the country.

We have a warning for them: THEIR DICTATORSHIP WILL NOT LAST MUCH LONGER.
